About Our Firm

Since 1991, Haskell & Davis, CPA has been providing personalized financial guidance to local individuals and businesses. Haskell & Davis, CPAs expertise ranges from basic tax and accounting services to more in-depth services such as audits, financial statements, financial planning and business management services. We have two offices, one in Santa Monica and one in Woodland Hills.

Our approach to client service is proactive versus reactive. We work closely with our clients to help them meet their current and long term goals. We pride ourselves on being valued as a trusted advisor by our clients and focus on sustaining long term relationships.

Our Team

David Haskell, CPA

Senior Partner of the Santa Monica Office

David Haskell received a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy degree from the University of California at Berkeley in 1975. In addition, Mr. Haskell received a Masters of Business Administration degree from the University of California at Los Angeles in 1980. Mr. Haskell's M.B.A. degree was earned with an emphasis in Accounting and Information Systems. He is an active member of the California Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Mr. Haskell worked as the Manager of Grants Accounting for the City of Santa Monica between his undergraduate and graduate studies. Upon completion of his graduate studies, Mr. Haskell accepted a tax CPA position with Arthur Young & Company in their Los Angeles office. During the three years Mr. Haskell worked for Arthur Young & Company, he was exposed to a wide variety of the firm's clientele, including multinational and entertainment companies in increasingly challenging assignments.

David left Arthur Young & Company to form his own private accounting firm in 1983.

In 1991, Mr. Haskell joined Gregory J. Davis in practice as Haskell & Davis, CPA. Their combined technical resources allow the firm to provide sophisticated business, tax and accounting services to a select group of clients and advisors who appreciate a high level of personal attention.

In more than thirty years of practice, Mr. Haskell has advised numerous businesses in the areas of tax, accounting and general business management matters.

Gregory J. Davis, CPA

Senior Partner of the Woodland Hills Office

Greg Davis received a Bachelor of Science in Accounting degree from Loyola Marymount University in May 1980. He is a member of the California State Society of CPAs and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants ("AICPA"). He holds the Personal Financial Specialist (PFS) designation from the AICPA. In addition, he holds a Series 7 Securities License and is a Registered Investment Advisor Representative. Mr. Davis is also a Licensed Life Insurance Agent.

Mr. Davis spent the first six years of his career as a Tax Manager with Arthur Young & Company's Entrepreneurial Service Group. This select division afforded him the opportunity to work on a vast array of projects given the diversified make-up of his entrepreneurial clients, their industry classifications, and stages of business evolution.

Greg spent the next five years with a diversified financial services marketing organization owned by IDS American Express where he served as Senior Vice President and Director of Financial & Tax Planning.

Mr. Davis' long-term exposure with closely held business owners and investor groups ultimately resulted in his decision to join David Haskell in practice. In 1991 they formed Haskell & Davis, CPA. Their combined technical resources allow the firm to provide sophisticated business, tax and accounting services to a select group of clients and advisors who appreciate a high level of personal attention.

In more than thirty years of practice Mr. Davis has advised numerous businesses in the areas of tax, accounting, financial planning, general business management, entity selection, sales, mergers, acquisitions and financing matters.

Shannon L. Deck, CPA, MST

Managing Partner

Shannon Deck received a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy from California State University, Northridge in 2005. In addition, Ms. Deck received a Master’s of Science in Taxation in 2010, also from California State University, Northridge. Ms. Deck spent a year abroad to study International Business, with a focus on Accounting, at the Universiteit of Twente in the Netherlands. She is an Advisory Board Member at the Bookstein Institute for Higher Education in Taxation and actively involved with Accounting and Taxation alumni on campus at California State University, Northridge.

During college Ms. Deck did a few internships at local tax firms, and was the lead intern in The Walt Disney Property Tax Department, overseeing the entire intern staff pool and working on complex tax audits. After college she worked as a Senior Accountant with Moss Adams LLP, working on high net worth individuals and their closely held businesses. During the next several years she worked as a Tax Manager at Rose Snyder & Jacobs, LLP, handling the firm’s largest clients; specializing in partnership law, real estate and complex transaction planning.

Ms. Deck joined Haskell & Davis, CPA as a Tax Consultant in January of 2014, and after merging her practice in, she is now the Managing Partner at the Woodland Hills location. Her areas of specialization include taxation, accounting, high net worth families and their closely held businesses, flow-through entities (with emphasis on partnership taxation), planning, and general business/financial matters.

Amalya Sargsyan, MBA

Senior Accountant in the Woodland Hills Office

Amalya Sargsyan received a Bachelor of Science in Finance from California State University, Northridge in 2019. Additionally, Mrs. Sargsyan received a Master of Business Administration in 2021 from Woodbury University. She has a great passion for lifelong learning, and is working diligently toward her goal of becoming a Certified Public Accountant in 2023.

Mrs. Sargsyan has over seven years of Accounting and Bookkeeping experience. Previously, she worked at Gelfand, Rennert, and Feldman LLC. There she had the opportunity to work with a multitude of entertainment industry clients, including but not limited to; musicians, producers, and various artists. A year later, she was promoted to Staff Accountant and started working with high net-worth individuals. In her new position, she thrived at serving her individual clients and their closely held businesses with excellent and unparalleled service.

Mrs. Sargsyan joined Haskell & Davis, CPA at the end of 2020 as a Staff Accountant. A few months later she was quickly promoted to a Senior Accountant. She continues to be focused on high net-worth individuals and their closely held entities. Her areas of specialization include General Taxation and Accounting (with emphasis on individual and corporate taxation). Mrs. Sargsyan uses a proactive and detail-oriented approach to address client’s questions and concerns. She has strong communication, problem solving, and time-management skills, which adds immense value to her clients.

Ximeng Zhang

Ximeng Zhang received a Bachelor of Science in Accounting degree from Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics in China in 2010. In addition, Ms. Zhang received a Master’s of Accountancy degree from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio in 2012.

During college Ms. Zhang did a few internships in commercial banking, global automotive manufacturing and at a local CPA firm. She worked on audit projects and reported on client’s financial performance on an IPO when she interned in Ascenda CPA firm.

Ms. Zhang joined Haskell & Davis, CPA in July 2012 as a staff accountant. She works on the preparation of tax returns, general bookkeeping and performs various assurance services. Ms. Zhang speaks fluent Mandarin and assists foreign clients with their various tax issues.

Cindy Paz

Office Manager

Cindy Paz joined Haskell & Davis, CPA in December 1994 as a staff accountant. Cindy serves as office manager and is also responsible for performing much of the daily bookkeeping and business management services for our clients.

Elsa Gonzales

Bookkeeper/Administrative Assistant

Elsa Gonzales joined Haskell & Davis, CPA in February 1997 as a staff accountant. Elsa is responsible for coordinating much of the daily bookkeeping, business management services and special project work for our clients.

Grant Roskowick

Administrative Assistant in the Woodland Hills Office

Grant joined Haskell & Davis, CPA in the Woodland Hills Office in 2021 as an Administrative Assistant. Grant is responsible for client intake, client deliverables and other various administrative functions.

Robert A. Morin, CPA (Of Counsel/Deceased)

Robert Morin was the sole owner of Robert A. Morin, CPA for over 45 years. In 2019, Mr. Morin merged his firm with Haskell & Davis, CPA and has enjoyed the opportunity to grow his practice with the help and support of the experienced CPAs he works with. Mr. Morin received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a major in Accounting and a minor in French from the University of Arizona in May 1967. He was certified as a California Certified Public Accountant in 1972 and as a Personal Financial Planner in 2016. Mr. Morin worked eleven years with the Federal Government in the Government Accountability Office (GAO) and the Department of Energy. Afterward, he worked two years in corporate and public accounting and established a private practice in February 1974.
